ORLANDO GILBERTO-CASTRO. 1989, Oporto
I finished the visual arts course in Filipa de Vilhena Highschool in 2007 and joined the amateur theater company Máquina de Nuvens, having worked as a performer between 2004 and 2011 and as a scenographer, in 2010, with Francisco Silva, in the show A Árvore e O Espelho, directed by Ana Paula Oliveira and presented in the Soares dos Reis National Museum.
In 2008 I enrolled in Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto. Since then, I took part in several workshops, like humanitarian architecture in 2009 and scenic space in 2011 and was a member of the production and research teams of the international conference cicle Prática(s) de Arquitectura – Projecto | Investigação | Escrita, in 2012.
I work as a performer in Teatro Universitário do Porto since 2011, having done, in 2012, their acting course, with a final show directed by Cláudio da Silva.
By the Erasmus programme, I attended for a year, in 2012/2013, the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, where I got education in tensile architecture. I joined the theater company Caín Teatro, having been nominated for best actor prize in the XXII Festival de Teatro da Universidade Politécnica de Madrid.
Since 2013 I am part of the Direction Board of Teatro Universitário do Porto. There, I performed in the show Já Gastámos as Palavras, directed by Victor Hugo Pontes, in 2013/2014 and designed and built, with Marta Pereira and Tiago Ascensão, the scenography for the show O Despertar da Primavera, directed by Nuno Matos, in 2014.
I debuted as a performance artist in the cycle *Uma segunda por semana, part of Variação da Cultura 2014, with the performance Sem título 01, presented in Rivoli Municipal Theater.
In September 2014, I finished my Architecture master degree with the thesis O sujeito não especializado: a instalação efémera como estímulo perceptivo para a habitação plurifamiliar, about the non-specialized individual and ephemeral installations as a perceptive tool.
